Tetracycline?
Sο I’m 14 аnd today mу dermatologist gave mе Tetracycline аnd recommended i υѕе іt fοr аbουt a month аnd see whаt happens. Bυt аftеr, I looked οn here, аnd saw thаt many people complained аbουt harsh side effects, lіkе discoloration οf teeth аnd major nausea. Mу doctor didn’t mention thіѕ though. Hе јυѕt ѕаіd tο nοt drink οr eat аnу dairy products within 2 hours аftеr taking thе meds.
Sο whаt I wanted tο аѕk, іѕ аll thіѕ stuff trυе? Shουld I still ѕtаrt taking Tetracycline? And whаt side effects hаνе уου experienced (іf аnу)?
Oh аnd аlѕο, I’ve tried Proactive аnd Clearasil, аnd those somewhat worked, bυt I wanted a more effective medication. And mу acne isn’t even thаt bаd, іtѕ quite mild. Bυt I thουght I ѕhουld јυѕt clear іt up now, cause іt gets pretty bаd sometimes.
Thanks!

Common side effects are upset stomach, diarrhea, nausea, headache, or vomiting. Extreme, but very rare, are stomach pain, yellowing of the eyes or skin, vision problems, and mental changes.
I would say it’s safe to take the meds, just be aware of the side effects, which do not occur 100% of the time. If you experience any of the more harsh side effects PLEASE CONTACT A DOCTOR ASAP!!
I want you to be well and confident.
If the meds work, you’re awesome.
If you have side effects you may stop taking them and try using gentle daily scrubs like I do. I’ve always struggled with acne, but it has improved drastically with average face scrubs such as Clean & Clear daily pore cleanser (there is a cool tingling kind too) and St. Ives Apricot scrub. You can buy these at almost any drug or grocery store for just a few dollars.
Scrub until your skin feels kind of tingly and rinse!
Hope all goes well.
Let me know how things turn out for you with the tetracycline.
my son is 15 he was taking tetracycline for about 6months he never had any side affects from it.it worked really good ! he was on a face cream called defferin cream …great combo together! oh yeah make sure you wear sunscreen when in the sun! thats the only thing your skin will be very prone to sunburn…good luck
You may want to ask if going into the sun for any length of time could be a problem.
Some people especially girls get a swelling in a private area from it’s use.
Better check on web M.D. Or allergies to medicines in a search engine then put in nane of medicine in heading.
The teeth thing is if you take tetracycline while your teeth are growing. They will end up having a brown band on them. Tetracycline will not turn the teeth you have already another color. About the nausea, tet only causes nausea in a small number of patients so your chances of that are low. The side effect that is most often reported is photosensitivity, so you would have to stay away from direct sunlight for the most part.
If these side effects sound harsh to you, ask your doctor about other options. I am assuming the tet is for acne; there are other treatments out there like clindamycin.
Tetracycline is the most widely prescribed oral antibiotic for acne. One major disadvantage is the requirement that tetracycline not be taken with food (particularly dairy products), certain antacids, and iron, all of which interfere with the intestinal absorption of the drug. Failure to adhere to these restrictions accounts for many of the reported therapeutic failures of tetracycline.
