HELLO, THE PROBLEM WITH THE ENAMEL TURNING OUT BAD WHEN FORMING IS KNOWN AS AMELOGENESIS IMPERFECTA. THIS IS A GENETIC DISORDER NOT A DRUG SIDE-EFFECT.
TETRACYCLINE DOES NOT CAUSE THIS BUT IF GIVEN IN TODLER YEARS CAN MAKE THE ADULT TEETH HAVE DARK INTRINSIC STAIN.
They have known for 40 years that tetracycline causes severe discoloring of teeth if given to infants. However there a some instances whee there is no other option. However tetracycline stained teeth are only discolored this does not damage the structure or anything else. It is strictly a cosmetic problem and considering all. If you live in the USA are under 45 years old it must have been medically necessary for them to prescribe tetracycline. I am wondering if you have a syndrome that is contributing to the dental problems you mentioned as it has to be more then tetracycline. Good Luck
