Sun tan lotion is designed to "enhance your tan" or make you tan more quickly – you probably don’t want to use that while on tetracycline.
Sun Screen is designed to block UVA and UVB rays to protect your skin. If you are going out in the sun you should use high level sun screen and still be careful about the amount of exposure you get while on tetracycline.
The good news is that sunlight should help clear up some of your acne, but be careful about getting too much sun and use a good quality sun screen designed for faces on your face.
