My hamster still has wet tail after 3 days and prescription tetracycline from the vet, not improveing why?
I have heard this is deadly, and literally the diarrhea is everywhere. I mean, everywhere. Like pure liquid all over the shavings. I’ve been changing them out twice a day (i’ve had to it’s so bad!) He is very active, hungry, eating, and drinking.. but the diarrhea is horrendous. It smells extremely fowl also. He has all this poop stuck to his butt, and I’ve tried to wipe it off but I can’t. If he does have wet tail, why isn’t he responding to the medication? Why is he still alive if he has had this profuse diarrhea for almost 4 days now that won’t stop? I am a first time hamster only and unfortunately this has been such a horrible experience that if this one dies I don’t know if I can handle getting another one.
But some extra bedding down and let the median kick in they have to take the full dose of the medicine to kill all the bad bacteria built up in side your hamster if the hamster hasn’t improved after the full dose of medicine go back to the vets i could be some thing more serious
well i don’t blame u my hamster had a huge lump on its side got it removed and he was doing fine in a matter of days he went down hill he stopped eating and his tail went wet and his bum was dropping my friend told me if his bottom was dragging behind him it meant he was dyeing he also had diarrhea it was all over him i took him to the vets and had to get him put down could let him suffer from this day i still miss him then my partner got me a puppy don’t get me wrong i love the pup but will never replace my beloved hamster i still cry for him so for now on keep a good eye on him they go so fast.even when u don’t expect it.
OK OK now take him to the vet he can die and good thing
you change the bedding dont stop it because my hamster
died of that but if u get a new one its not the same.so a
way to get the poo of his but is to use warm water and try to scrub it off and maybe use ur fingers and give him a bath
only the bottom try to keep track of him and hope he feels better soon!
mine died within 24 hours and i took it to the vet within that time and it lived 2 hours there and died. i don’t know how your is hanging on, this is a terrible disease they get, and mine was fine one day and dead the next, literally with little illness til the day it passed. wait awhile if this one does not get better, and you may feel better about a new one. it may be some sort of infection, not wet tail, put fresh bedding in everyday if you must, if its eating and drinking thats a good sign.
