How likely is it that you will get a yeast infection when taking a tetracycline antibiotic (minocycline)?
I’ve taken Amoxicillin, Augmentin аnd Penicillin wіth nο problems, bυt never a tetracycline. I hаνе never hаd a yeast infection ѕο far.
(BTW, аrе thеу really painful аnd саn I treat thеm myself without going tο thе doctor, etc)
Just pay attention to how everything feels down there, if you start to feel even the slightest bit of itching then go straight to a pharmacy and ask for a treatment. Since you are on antibiotics and you get one, then you wouldnt need to go to the doctor since you can pretty much know its thrush and what caused it.
I dont know how likely it is, some people are fine. But last time I took antibiotics I got one within about 4 days.
Not a big chance but it is always possible
If you have had one before it is more likely. It really does depend on the person. But it is very likely at least in my experience. I’ve also notice that the longer you are taken them the more likely. I’d say about a week or more, your chances are much greater.
Antibiotics work by killing bacteria. Unfortunately, they kill out the good bacteria in our body also, such as those in our stomach that helps to digest our food. If the good bacteria get killed, then the yeast takes over. You can help avoid this by eating yogurt that has live active cultures in it or by going to the pharmacy or health food store and getting some probiotics. This helps replenish the good bacteria that our body needs.
Antibiotics can cause yeast infections sometimes, as someone else explained very well. What I wanted to say was that if you suspect you have a yeast infection, and you’ve never had one before, you’re supposed to go to the doctor. That’s what the Monistat directions say. They can be extremely painful and irritating to some women.
You can get a yeast infection from any antibiotic that you are given. My doctor gives me a antibiotic and precipitation for a yeast infection at the same time so I don’t have to come back later to get one. You can also take eat Activia Yogurt when you are done with the meds and that helps as well.
