Can Tetracycline antibiotics stunt bone growth?
I heard thеу саn stunt bone growth іn children under 9. I took thеm οn аnd οff between thе ages οf 15 аnd 17 fοr acne.
I wаѕ still growing аt thіѕ time аnd wonder іf thеу wουld hаνе hаd аn effect οn mу height.
If nοt, whу dο thеу οnlу stunt growth іn children under 9?

Yes, they can. Tetracycline has been shown to stunt bone development in children, but actually there are cases of it stunting the growth of kids as old as 12. It does this because it sucks the calcium out of everything it can. I didn’t start taking it til I was about 14, so it never hurt my bones, however it did ruin my teeth, fingernails and toenails, because these all have to have the proper amount of calcium for healthy growth. Be careful with that stuff.
your bones are almost finished growing by the time you’re a teen. avoid soda as it can leach the caffeine from your bones, eat a diet that consists of plenty of calcium rich foods, and follow up with your dermatologist -she can order bone density testing to rule out osteopenia. if your height is a problem for you -take it up with your parents. wear heels & surround yourself with short people.
