salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide for acne? which is better for severe acne?? wats the difference and wat do each of them do specifically for skin and acne?

Im supposed to start my acne treatment tomorrow with 100mg per day of Doxycycline and Clindamycin topical solution. Im kind of afraid of the side effects. Does this treatment clear you up after a few months and then you are done with acne for life, such as with Accutane? I have had moderate to severe acne for 16 years. Im kind of desperate, but don’t want to do anything life threatening.

I have tried numerous prescriptions for my acne and nothing seems to help. I would really like to get rid of my acne without using accutane due to its harsh side affects. Does anyone know of any other medications or remedies that will help to cure my severe acne.

I was thinking about going to the dermatologist and getting accutane is this bad for me and should I start it I have severe acne.

I am four weeks away from starting accutane..i am trying to get myself prepared for it but would like so tips. I understand about all the side effects and know to take care of myself while i’m on it. I would like some helpful advice from people who have taken it themselfs..like when did you start seeing results? I don’t have severe acne so i’m wondering if that means it will work faster for me? I’m taking 200 mg of doxycycline a day for my mild inflammatory acne, and I tried lose dose accutane before that, but it failed. Are doxycycline, minocycline, and tetracycline very effective in teating mild to severe acne? I hope this works, because I’ve run out of options.

I have moderate — severe acne and my doctor prescribed tetracycline, ziana, and finacea. How long will it take for my acne to clear up?

I am 18 years old, 180 lbs, and I have severe acne. My doctor put me on minocycline and differin gel well over a year ago and I have seen some differences but the acne is still quite frequent. Would going on Tetracycline work? What’s the difference? I am also considering accutane as a last resort. Thank you!

I think it might be psychological and here is my reasoning.

Most people taking accutane have severe acne that inhibits them socially. They often times think if they get rid of the acne, theyll be more open with people. When the acne’s gone, and they see that only a few things have changed, they become depressed. I think that Accutane as a depressant is more psychological than drug-related. Would I be right in saying this?
