what better minocycline or tetracycline or they the same and what can cause acne ?
If you understand what these drugs are and what their purpose is, then can you explain to me what the difference is between the two?
I previously used tetracycline, but when that wasn’t effective enough, my doctor prescribed minocycline. Is minocycline stronger?
Hi! I was taking Minocycline 100 Mg twice a day and the usual benzoyl for acne and it really cleared my face up after using it for a few weeks. I am off insurance right now so I am looking for a cheap alternative because I don’t make a lot.
I am now having a major acne breakout since I went off the Rx a few months ago.There is a lot of redness and it’s itching like crazy.
I finally went to a clinic today and the doctor prescribed Tetracycline 500 Mg twice a day for 2 weeks then once daily. I know I can get it extremely cheap w/o insurance.
I’ve tried erythromycin in the past and it didn’t really do anything for my acne. Proactiv helped somewhat.
So should I fork over the money for minocycline that I know works for me or try out tetracycline or is there another cheap brand out there?
While taking Minocycline or tetracycline many doctors will say "it will take a month" before you notice improvement. Why is this? A biochemistry answer would be greatly appreciated, as would any other.

I have heard that it can leave lasting damage to your skin. Does anyone know if this is true? The doctor prescribed me Benzoyl Peroxide 5%, with Minocycline for my acne. I find the Benzoyl Peroxide very drying, i havent noticed any bad effects yet, but I heard it could be much worse when you are older.
I have really severe acne (cystic) and doctor prescribed me oral antibiotic( minocycline ) a month ago but seem like my skin still getting cystic acne over time.I would like to try to ask my doctor to prescribe me Accutane. I heard that both Tetracycline and Minocycline degrade when exposed to sunlight.

Hi I’m a 20 years old girl suffering from pastular acne and I have been taking oral antibiotics since 2001. I took doxycline until 2005 before my acne flares up again. My doctor then prescribed me erythromycin which worked for a few months before I started breaking out again and it was back to doxycycline for me. Now my doctor has prescribed me minocycline, will it worked since it is the same class as doxycycline or should I try other acne treatments such as oral contraceptives?
