So I’m 14 and today my dermatologist gave me Tetracycline and recommended i use it for about a month and see what happens. But after, I looked on here, and saw that many people complained about harsh side effects, like discoloration of teeth and major nausea. My doctor didn’t mention this though. He just said to not drink or eat any dairy products within 2 hours after taking the meds.
So what I wanted to ask, is all this stuff true? Should I still start taking Tetracycline? And what side effects have you experienced (if any)?
Oh and also, I’ve tried Proactive and Clearasil, and those somewhat worked, but I wanted a more effective medication. And my acne isn’t even that bad, its quite mild. But I thought I should just clear it up now, cause it gets pretty bad sometimes.
Thanks!
I am about to start taking tetracycline for my acne. I know tetracycline is an antibiotic, and I know that antibiotics kill all the bacteria in one’s body, and I know plain yogurt helps to build up the good bacteria in the body, but…. I am supposed to avoid dairy products when taking this medication, because it will make the medicine ineffective, so what should I do about this situation? Can I still have natural plain yogurt? Or is there anything else that can help build up good bacteria?
Thanks in advance!
Oh and please correct me if I was wrong about any of these statements.
Im travelling to Kenya soon for aid work, and im currently on acne medication, i was told by somebody that doxycycline could be used as anti malarial medication as well as for acne prevention, is this true?
Doctor prescribed it for me, mom is afraid about the purple teeth thing. What are the chances the medication will go right?
I turned 17 last September.
I have a zit on my forehead and its been on my forehead for about 2 months, i wash it with acne medication every day but it wont go away.
Is there a medication that works better than others?
Is there a treatment that i can do at home without seeing a dermatologist?
I have a tube of maximum strength 10% benzoyl acne medication and I wet my face then I apply the benzoyl peroxide to my face so how long should I leave it on my face before i rinse it off of my face?
Hi, recently i got prescribed this medication ( Erythromycin & Tretinoin 0.025% Topical Gel ) for acne to use only at night. The only problem is i can’t leave it on for more then 5 Hours because of early work. Also, i can’t put it early in the evening due to night school after work. My point! is 5 HOURS more then enough???
Today is my last day of treatment & I have one pill left to take but I noticed I still have discharge just a small amount. I’m not displaying any other symptoms. I just want to know is my body still clearing out the bacteria or should I just get some more medication.
I’m taking it for one week two times daily to treat an STI. Ever since my boyfriend and I have started taking it, we’ve had head aches, very sore and swollen throats, coughing, runny/stuffy noses, watery eyes, sneezing. Is this a coincidence, or does this commonly happen while taking doxycycline?
Also, do you think I will be able to take some sort of medication while I am on this pill? Or should I just wait it out in case it lowers the effectiveness?
I’ve been off accutane for a month and I’m happy with the results but my lips still get dry..not as bad as they were when I was on medication but I thought by now I would have dry free lips….anyone know how long it’s suppose to take? Thanks.
