I am on depression medication and my dermatologist prescribed me Accutane. I really need it as it is my last resort, I have been going to her for 6 years. My skin doesn’t want to clear up. She does not know about my depression problem (which is ONLY a result of a recent bad breakup). If I tell her, will she work with me or is she going to pull the plug on giving me the prescription?! Please help. I need the help!
I started my Accutane treatment in January 2008 and ended it June 2008. My lips were still chapped a month after and I asked my dermatologist why this is. His answer was that I have braces and the medication is still in effect. Its now been a year, braces off, and still my lips are chapped. Any suggestions?
I’m 23 years old and my acne has never been so bad! I watch what I eat, get 7-8 hours of sleep each night, my dermatologist recently put me on Minocyclin… The acne is still there… It even seems worse now. I’ve been on the medicine for a little over two weeks. I feel that it should be cleared. Any remedies I haven’t tried? Help!
I was also put on Retin-A. All it did was make my face peel.
One more question… Does pouring hydrogen peroxide on your acne work?
My dermatologist won’t prescribe me generic accutane because I’m about to leave for India for 3 months; I wouldn’t be able to keep up on the blood-work. A friend said that I can probably just get it over there, and it will be less expensive and easier to come by - anybody know if that’s true? Do they sell it over the counter? If not, can I get a prescription for it as a foreigner?
Thanks
Benzoyl Peroxide is often found in acne treatments such as proactive, thats how i discovered I was allergic to it. I just bought cough laugins with Benzocaine as the active ingredient. I haven’t taken any yet, but do you think I could be allergic to it too?

It was more of a self diagnoses, after using "Proactiv" for the first time my face broke out in hives. I thought it was just the product so I bought a different one, "AcneFree" and the same thing happened. I checked out the boxes of both and noticed the active ingredient was Benzoyl Peroxide. I went to my dermatologist and told her what happened so she gave me new stuff without BP in it and it worked great. Maybe I just have sensitive skin, all I know is that my body does no like that stuff haha!
I have had a big red bump on top of my nose for about a month now. I have tried to get rid of it, but have had no success. It seems to be an ingrown zit, but has surfaced without a whitehead. Now a couple days ago, another one has appeared right above it. I consulted a dermatologist and he just popped it and said it should go away. I am unsure what to do and would like to hear some advice. Thanks
My dermatologist wants me to go on accutane for 6 months, but I’m not sure if it’s really worth all of the things that come along with it if my acne isn’t completely terrible. Can someone let me know about the risks and side effects and if it’s really worth the entire process (i.e. required birth control, monthly pregnancy tests, etc.)?
I have pretty stubborn acne on my face, back and chest. I’ve been on a lot of medications and now I’m thinking of asking my dermatologist if I can go on Accutane. I don’t want to deal with it during the school year, and so I was wondering if it’s terrible to use it during the summer?
My skin tone is not pale but not dark and I have a tan from the summer right now. I take a shower every day and wash my face reguarly and use Noxema but I still can’t stop the weird discolerations and acne even when I use concealer and these acne products. Any suggestions?
I also have strange bumbs on my arms and legs and I don’t know how to get rid of them but I am going to a dermatologist soon. I do use Clearisil too.
My acne isn’t that bad and it is not red its just strange bumbs here and there.
I don’t wear make-up
I recently just got the most painful zit I’ve ever had. It’s on my chin, it’s big and it’s red. It’s under the skin so I can’t pop it easily. How do I get rid of it fast? Also, I’m only 13 and I don’t have a dermatologist so don’t tell me to go talk to my dermatologist or anything extreme like that.
