I have been taking YAZ for about two months now. Last month, my period was heavy and lasted about 7 days. Now, I have my period (2nd day into my period) but its very light and it’s more like spotting with not much red blood, but lots of brown. Is this normal? Is this counted for my period? Will my next period be heavy again? What did you experience while taking this birth control pill?

i started taking the birth control pill yaz today and am so far not having any side effects like nausea…thank god lol. my question is, how long does it take for the pill to become effective in preventing pregnancy? i always thought it was one month, but the info packet that came with the pills said to use a back up method for a week. and even though its my first day taking the pills, can i still have side effects like nausea and breast tenderness in the next few days?

Hi all. I have just completed my first month of Yaz birth control pill (today I will take my 3rd pill of the second packet). My period consisted of dark discharge and some very light spotting and it occurred Thursday (last inactive pill) through Friday (first active pill of this packet). I am not sure when I was supposed to expect my period anyway, so I am not sure if that was late or early or what.
Also, here is the catch: I had sex two weeks ago today (on Jan 14) and we used the pull out method (I know i know, unwise…) but i get the sense that my partner accidently let some out because he seemed unusually concerned about whether i was on bcps. To add to the problem, I am currently taking tetracycline, and I am not sure by how much this decreases Yaz’s effectiveness and whether or not I should be concerned about the tetracycline. All these factors combined make me incredibly nervous. Sorry for the long question, but I am a little anxious.
I should also note that I have had an odd metallic taste in my mouth ever since I had sex. I have also been very very sleepy. I’m not sure if these are due to other factors but I thought I should mention them.
