It is ok, but not the best antibiotic for ear infections. Some bacteria that cause ear infections are resistant to Erythromycin. The first choice antibiotic for ear infections is Amoxicillin. If Amoxicillin cannot be used, then it is recommended to use Cefdinir or Cefpodoxime be used. If someone has a serious allergic reaction to Penicillins then Azithromycin or Clarithromycin should be used. If Erythromycin is to be used, then it is now recommended that it should be combined with Sulfisoxazole to get better antibacterial coverage. It is best to discuss this with your doctor. Good luck.
