You might want to take some Ibuprofin (Advil) for the inflammation in addition to the antibiotic for the infection. You can buy Ibuprofin over the counter. Ice will help too. Put some ice in a ziplock bag and wrap a towel around it, apply to the area ten minutes on, ten minutes off. Follow with your doctor.

Inflammation is a response by your body to a perceived threat (like bacteria). If bacteria is the cause of your epididymitis, and your immune system is working right, the inflammation will most likely go away when the bacteria does. If bacteria is the cause of your epididymitis, an antibiotic like doxycycline should get rid of them.
Have you seen a doctor? Epididymitis is serious. Do you have mumps? That’s the most "high profile" cause, and one not related to bacteria.
