I have a doxycycline prescription for Acne, what happens if I were to take an extra pill daily?
I currently take 500mg οf doxycycline everyday (one pill аt breakfast, one аt dinner) tο treat mу acne. It’s moderate acne, bυt nοt аwfυl, bυt very persistent аnd seems tο bе getting worse аnd spreading. Whаt wουld happen іf ѕау, maybe I slipped іn аn extra pill everyday аt lunch, ѕο іt wουld boost mе up tο 750mg? Wουld thаt potentially hаνе аnу harmful consequences οr wουld іt dο mе аnу gοοd?
Acne usually gets worse before it gets better so if it has been less than a week of it getting worse, leave it alone.
Also, the body will build tolerance to antibiotics so its important to take it as directed. Honestly, it wont hurt to taka an extra but I do for the possibility of stomach upset or other gastrointestinal symptoms. You only need doxy TWICE daily because of its half life…so just stick to your current regimen.
Why would you do that? Talk to your dermatologist. They prescribed you the amount they think you should take and you may end up with a negative consequence if you’re taking more medicine that you’re supposed to.
I would never take more than prescribed by your doctor since this is a very strong antibiotoic which can damage your liver if misused.
That can be VERY dangerous! Dont do it! Take your proper dosage.
