Doxycycline has made my skin significantly worse. What do I do?
I ѕtаrtеd taking doxycycline аlmοѕt two weeks ago. It hаѕ mаdе mу face аlmοѕt 3X аѕ bаd. Whаt dο I dο? Dο I continue taking іt waiting fοr іt tο gеt better? Dο I taper οff thе dosage?
I’m embarrassed tο even leave mу house. I used tο hаνе mild acne аnd now іt’s going іntο thе moderately severe path. It’s tеrrіblе. Please hеlр!
Note: I take Doxycycline twice a day.

I’d talk to the doctor that prescribed it. Maybe it is your body adjusting to this but that doesn’t sound typical . I’d see how long it is supposed to be that way before it starts to clear it up instead or if you have a sensitivity to that which you didn’t know of prior. I would not give up on it if this is going to improve soon as far as your body tolerating it but could ask the pharmacist (call if you prefer instead) and get their input on this if you describe the reaction and the dosage you take to them.
Pharmacists can be rather helpful usually in the area of medications and reactions after from them.
Call your doctor and talk with them. I used to take antibiotics too for acne. They didn’t work for me, and I switched to creams and lotions like Retin-A and Benzaclin. With some acne meds, it gets worse before it gets better. Your doctor will know. They can call in something else for you.
