I would check with a pharmacist on drug interactions or call your doctor’s office to see if the mix can cause a reaction in the body, when on the pill though you can have disruptions in this causing it to seem irregular or not the usual at times, especially early on as it’s a type of hormone treatment. How long ago did you change the pill you were on? changing this can cause a reaction in the body initially as it adjusts to this.
I would not feel an antibiotic would cause any irregular bleeding by itself, but there are drug interactions when combining different meds. How close were you to having the period? If not far off, maybe switching to this pill or having both meds at once caused things to be a little off schedule and should be ok next month. A body needs time to adjust to the birth control pill. When you finish a med often it isn’t instantly all out of your system either. There’s a level built up that was fighting some infection.
NO. The antibiotic usually does not cause your period to be irregular. One thing that comes to mind here is that you may be pregnant (if you are sexually active). The pill can be rendered quite ineffective when you are on antibiotics. If you think you are having possible implantation bleeding due to a pregnancy, you should take a home pregnancy test. Beyond that, if this bleeding only happens once between periods, it is nothing to worry about. The time you should look to consult with your gynecologist is if you are having frequent bouts of bleeding in between periods (breakthrough bleeding). Take care.
