What's the real difference between benzoyl peroxide 2.5%, 5%, 10%?

I assumed thаt 10% works better ѕіnсе іt’s higher bυt i’ve heard thаt thеу treat acne аt thе same rate аnd thе dіffеrеnсе іѕ fοr marketing purposes.

Benzoyl peroxide works by peeling off excess cell buildup, temporarily dilating the folicles and breaking up follicle impactions and debris, Benzoyl peroxide also releases oxygen in the follicle, helping to kill bacteria.
Benzoyl peroxide normally is made in three strengths:
~2.5% for mild acne and thin, sensitive skin
~5 % for moderate acne
~10% for more severe acne
It’s just the strength of the medication. For me, I tryed the 10% but my skin is sensitive and it started to peel. I have to use a lower dose. Benzoyl peroxide is considered the best acne treatment because of it’s drying properties. Oil causes acne, and BP breaks down the oil and dries out the pores, making the acne go away. no 10 percent is stronger. but it really doesn’t work all that much better because it dries out your skin way too much. just use 2.5 or 5 percent on a routinely basis.
I made the same mistake, buying the 10% one, but according to the book The Acne Cure (Dr. Terry J. Dubrow and Brenda D. Adderly) investigations have found the rate that works in benzoyl peroxide is from 2.5 and 5%, there´s no need for more. My acne was not very severe and my skin is very sensitive, so when I used the 10% it really irritated me. Don´t use it, use 2.5 or 5. I strongly recommend you this book, I had acne for 16 years, and their recommendations have been the only real cure for my acne. This guy is a dermatologist and plastic surgeon.
Here´s another tip for the book, if you keep the peroxide in your fridge (but don´t freeze it), and make your face cold with some ice wrapped in a small towel, it will work faster. Hope it works! Read the book it will help a lot.
i’ve heard that the lower percents work just as well as the higher percents do but are better for beginning it out. if your skin isn’t improving with a lower percent, then you should boost it up.
