Are there alternatives to benzoyl peroxide?
My face has swollen up and turned red/itchy the past 3 times I used products with benzoyl peroxide in them (one prescription, two generic). My doctor refuses to give me anything else for another week since she has to "wait for the irritation to go down," but I can’t go another day without doing something to get rid of my pimples/acne. They hurt so much. Is there anything that works that doesn’t have benzoyl peroxide in it?
If you don’t wait for the irritation to go down like your doctor said, it doesn’t matter what you use, it’ll have the same bad effect. Once it DOES go down, you can try salicylic acid, which works great for existing pimples, not so great for prevention. But it will make your face even MORE red if you don’t wait for your skin to get better! Irritated skin causes more pimples.
