What will happen if I am on depression medications and am prescribed accutane?
I аm οn depression medication аnd mу dermatologist prescribed mе Accutane. I really need іt аѕ іt іѕ mу last resort, I hаνе bееn going tο hеr fοr 6 years. Mу skin doesn’t want tο clear up. Shе dοеѕ nοt know аbουt mу depression problem (whісh іѕ ONLY a result οf a recent bаd breakup). If I tеll hеr, wіll ѕhе work wіth mе οr іѕ ѕhе going tο pull thе plug οn giving mе thе prescription?! Please hеlр. I need thе hеlр!
You must tell her about the medication and the depression. To not do so damages the trust needed to have a good doctor patient relationship. She needs to be able to trust that you give truthful answers and you need to trust that she will make the best decisions for your care. She may continue with the course of accutane, just with closer monitoring, but that should be a decision you make together. The reason for the depression does not matter, only that you have an increased risk while taking accutane.
During any clinic visit with any doctor, you need to reveal any medications that you may be taking. Hopefully, you have already done this. Your doctor will then select medications that do not cause any problems with medications already in your system. If you neglected to mention this to your dermatologist (depression medication you are taking), shame on you because you could be setting yourself up for a drug interaction in your body.
I have had heaps of hassles with acne & the best way is the most natural.
Remember that Dermatologists are generally only interested in your skin & not your overall wellness – I have found that out from personal experience & in a lot of countries the Dermatologist will get payed more as an extra incentive for prescribing Accutane – I Don’t trust them. Stay away from Accutane as I have had that twice, & it has nasty side effects & it will certainly not help your depression. I have been dealing with negative effects from taking Accutane over 5 yrs ago
