I also think that it needs to be noted that the majority of people who take Accutane are teens and young adults...and we hear all the time about teens and young adults being depressed and suicidal for reasons that have nothing to do with medication.

Also, Accutane can make your already bad skin much worse before it gets better, and to someone who is already uncomfortable with their appearance, that can be quite a blow.

Based on the limited number of cases linking Accutane to depression/suicide, I personally think there are a lot more significant side-effects to worry about (liver enzymes, cholesterol, birth defects)...although psychological condition is definitely worth keeping an eye on.

nope, accutane acts on the dopamine synopses in the brain...just like many other chemicals we can not predict how it will affect any given person...some pll are fine others lose their grip

I am not familiar with Accutane, but I can state with confidence that anyone who would look down on another person for the appearance of their face isn't worth worrying about. There will always be both good people and bad people, and having acne or not won't change that truth. I agree with the notion that sometimes medication is only used to treat the symptoms, but the causes aren't healed. People can benefit from support groups. Not support groups that look down on people as if they have some horrible affliction which must be cured, support groups that recognize that we are all human and we all have a number of blemishes of one sort or another and there is absolutely nothing wrong with it(unless I or whoever has the blemish says it is a problem).

i don't think so. Accutane is a powerful drug and it will mess your body chemistry. It seems perfectly logical that the drug would make some people feel down. And a lot of people do see changes(socially) after taking the drug.
