What do you think of the prescription drug accutane?
I recently wеnt tο thе dermatologist аnd thеу ѕаіd іf mу acne didn’t clear up іn two months wіth thе product thеу hаd given mе thеn thеу wουld hаνе tο рυt mе οn accutane.I’ve heard аbουt аll thе side effects.( thеу seem serious) I јυѕt don’t know…hаνе уου еνеr taken іt? Dіd іt hеlр? And whаt wеrе thе side effects аftеr уου ѕtοрреd taking accutane?

I took Accutane for five months during the beginning of my junior year of college.
As for side effects, really the biggest thing is just dryness. I was constantly drinking water, putting on chapstick (or Aquaphor; remember that name…) and applying lotion. I did get bloody noses too until I got smart enough to put Vaseline in my nose (yes, I know that sounds disgusting). Also, during my first month, my cholesterol went up over 60 points, so I had to go low-fat, low-cholesterol for the next four months of treatment. I was able to get my cholesterol back down through diet alone, and I think my long-term eating habits are better for it.
I’m convinced my derm pulled me off of it too early (I lost weight…probably from the diet, and significant weight loss is a depression symptom and he wanted to be overly cautious), because I do still get some acne and the occasional flare up. That being said, it isn’t nearly as severe or stubborn as it was before the Accutane and I feel so much better about myself.
*Knock on wood* I haven’t had any long-term side-effects…except clearer skin and increased self-confidence.
Really, it is a great medication, but it isn’t to be taken lightly. If you decide to go through with it, it’s a big commitment with monthly derm visits and blood draws. You just have to commit to doing whatever you need to do to keep yourself healthy while taking it.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do! :]
