I too am 15 and am on accutane right now. It probably isn’t right for you, occasional zits are NO reason to use it. It has serious side effects(I’ve been lucky with them), including VERY chapped lips, sun sensitivity, and possible depression. It may stop bones from growing and it may cause your brain pressure to increase(possibly causing death).
You’d have to talk to your doctor to see if it’s right for you, I had more than just zits when I began 4 months ago. I had puss nodules all over my face, chest, and even shoulders and back.
It does work though, and you should need a prescription for it. If your doctor thinks it’s right for you, you should try it.
If not, don’t.
It can also cause birth defects in women, but that’s not something you’ll need to worry about(it doesn’t affect sperm).
Also, it leaves scars.
Accutane isn’t for people with occasional zits. It’s for people with severe acne. I took it when I was 16 or 17. It’s because of Accutane that I started to shave. I had to get rid of all the skin peelings. I had to get blood tests to check my liver function. Read the brochure from the dermatologist to see all the side effects. This stuff is nothing to fool around with.
I was on accutane for 9 months and it didn’t do anything for me, but give me dry skin.
It messed up a friend of mines eyes.
I would try a Manuka Lotion and gentle cleansers before going on that.
i didnt go on accutane til i was 19…i have read that it’s better to wait until you are older because it is more effective. you should go see a dermatologist. my dermatologist made me try every other pill/cream/gel before i was put on accutaine because it is very powerful and not just something you prescribe for occasional zits. it’s if you have bad acne. however, i was on it for 7 months and my skin is great now, and ive been off it for about a year and a half now.
