Bυt I gο back tο school аt thе еnd οf August dο уου thіnk іt’ll clear up a lіttlе bу thеn?

It looks like Rossie just cut and pasted whatever she found instead of giving the answer you were looking for. I took Accutane in the early 80′s when it first came out. It is prescribed for severe acne, not mild or moderate acne. When I took it, it was given for 4 months, then stopped. It might be different now. Your skin will get worse before it gets better, and the best improvement comes after you stop taking it, so you don’t want to see it getting worse, get discouraged, and stop taking it. No, it will not be clearer in August if you start taking it now. It will likely be worse. Some of the side effects are severely dry skin and cracked lips. You absolutely must be celibate or be using an effective birth control because it will cause birth defects. That’s the bad news. The good news is, if you are willing to put up with another 6 months of bad skin, it will work. Like I said, I took it 25 years ago and my skin improved dramatically. Your dermatologist will have to decide if your acne is severe enough to take it. If he doesn’t believe it is, there are other things he can give you, I’ve used Zoderm face wash and Clenia cream to help clear it up. (I still get occasional flare ups from hormonal fluctuations) Good luck.
One of the most common ways of treating acne is the use of retinoids. Retinoids are substances derived from Vitamin A, which attempt to cure acne by normalizing the lifecycle of follicle cells. There are two types of such substances, based on application: external (topical) and oral. The best known external retinoids are Retin-A, Differin and Tazorac, while the oral retinoids list is headed by the popular Accutane.
However, about one quarter of the patients who used Accutane or other drugs based on isotretinoin may relapse and require additional treatment.
But the biggest drawback of retinoids is the long list of side effects, which sometimes makes retinoids look like a disease rather than a cure.
The most common side effects are dry skin and nosebleeds. Many patients have also reported liver problems, while a few complained of depression. However, the scientific community is still split on the issue of depression. More seriously, isotretinoin is known to cause birth defects, which is why female patients have to use two separate forms of birth control or vow abstinence during the treatment. Pregnant women are not allowed to use anything but the mildest treatments.
The bottom line is that retinoids are a good idea if one can cope with the side effects. This begs the question: why not use something just as effective, but without the side effects. Acne treatment systems, such as ClearPores: http://www.clearpores.com/clicks/clickthrough.html?a=150901 are also popular because of their success in dealing with the condition, but lack the extreme side that makes retinoids a pain to use. The choice between these treatments is yours.
You will likely see some improvement by then, but your skin won’t be fully cleared up for a few months.
While you are on accutane your skin becomes severely dry so be sure to get a good oil free moisturizer and use LOTS of good lip balm. When I was on it I waited for my lips to get dry before I started using lip balm regularly but you should use it right from the start, because once the dry lips hit me they were really painful…
good luck I hope it works out for you!
